Passion for running warms up Chilly Chili

The snow didn't stop runner Brenden Mariano from taking top place again at Chilly Chili.

Mariano continued his tradition as he outran over 150 others through snow at the annual 5K race at Schaumburg Golf Club Saturday.

Mariano and Jordana Lesavage took top male and female finisher despite the snowy conditions.

“I reminded the guys of possible ice and to take it slow around the curves,” said Mariano, the assistant girls cross country coach at Schaumburg High School, who ran with two other Saxons.

Schaumburg Park District grounds crew cleared the snow from paths to allow for safe running conditions.

Runners warmed up after the 5K with hot dogs, chili and beer provided by Chandler's, located inside the Schaumburg Golf Club.
