Schaumburg crash victim identified as Palatine man
Schaumburg police are continuing to investigate a two-vehicle accident near Woodfield Friday night that killed a 61-year-old Palatine man and injured his 18-year-old daughter.
Robert Manley of Palatine died as a result of multiple injuries in the motor vehicle accident, an autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner's office determined.
Both Manley's daughter and the 51-year-old woman driving the other vehicle in the collision suffered non-life threatening injuries, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said.
No tickets have been issued. Police are at the auto pound Monday continuing the investigation which may yet take a few weeks, Nebl added.
The preliminary investigation indicated Manley's green Chevy Malibu was eastbound on Woodfield Road at West Frontage Road when a black BMW SUV traveling south on West Frontage Road struck the Chevy in the driver's door at 8:32 p.m. Friday.
Manley was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by paramedics, who took him to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. He was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m.
Manley's daughter and the woman driving the BMW were both taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights for treatment.
The intersection of Woodfield Road and West Frontage Road was closed past midnight Friday night during the preliminary investigation.
