Man, 61, killed in crash near Woodfield
A 61-year-old man was killed Friday night when his car was hit by another vehicle near Woodfield Mall, authorities said.
A black BMW SUV traveling south on Frontage Road struck the driver's-side door of the man's green Chevy Malibu, which was going east on Woodfield Road at 8:32 p.m., Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebl said.
The man had to be extricated from the vehicle; he was then taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where he was pronounced dead at 9:05 p.m., Nebl said.
An 18-year-old female passenger in the Chevy Malibu and the 51-year-old female driver of the BMW were taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights with nonlife threatening injuries, Nebl said.
The cause of the crash hadn't been determined, and investigators remained on scene late Friday. The intersection of Woodfield and Frontage roads was set to reopen after midnight.
