Cut military budget in half
I cannot accept the attitude of people who never complain of the debt created by military spending, but who criticize those who wish to help their fellow Americans obtain medical care or a small income while unemployed.
Our government has 12 nuclear aircraft carriers and 60 submarines bobbing in the world's oceans.
The world terrorists don't have planes, aircraft carriers or submarines. So why do we need to spend $800 billion a year on these weapons unsuited to eliminating the only threat to our security in the world?
The Republicans spend money on weapons and war and create federal deficits. Reagan did and Bush created a $400 billion annual deficit making war. The Republicans tax and spend on war.
We waste our resources on making weapons, when the crisis is our society's inability to provide jobs and medical care to its people. Let's become fiscally prudent by reducing the military budget by 50 percent and thereby reduce the deficit by $400 billion each year. Our military budget will then be only five times that of the country with the next largest military spending.
