Vernon Hills downs Carmel
Vernon Hills' boys basketball team stayed hot and so did Chris Argianas.
Argianas scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Cougars defeated visiting Carmel Catholic 76-71 Wednesday night.
Argianas' 31-point effort last Saturday night led Vernon Hills (5-0) to the championship of Northridge Prep's tournament.
Against Carmel (3-3), Vernon Hills also received 19 points from DaVaris Daniels and 10 from Brian Berzanski. Stephen Curry and Darren Hoveydai added nine apiece.
Carmel was led by Tim Hendricks' 21 points. Conner Jordan had 12, Dan Mooney and Doug Meyer each scored 10, and Dan Feld chipped in nine.
