Schaumburg one of top 10 digital cities
Schaumburg ranks ninth nationwide in its population category in e.Republic's Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities Program's 10th annual Digital Cities Survey.
The survey recognizes municipalities that successfully incorporate information technology into operations to better serve constituents and businesses. Schaumburg participated in the 75,000 to 124,999 population category, ranking just ahead of Berkeley, Calif.
The only other Illinois municipality in the top 10 of any population category was Chicago, ranked fifth in the 250,000+ category.
Schaumburg Village Manager Ken Fritz pointed out that with a population of about 76,000, Schaumburg competes with much larger municipalities.
“For the sixth time in the last eight years, the village has accomplished placing in the top 10 in our population band,” Fritz said. “We are very proud of this achievement.”
