QB Clausen back at practice for Panthers
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Jimmy Clausen has returned to practice after missing a game with a concussion and will start Sunday against Cleveland barring a setback.
Clausen sat out the loss to Baltimore, giving Brian St. Pierre his first NFL start just over a week after he joined the team. St. Pierre had interceptions returned for touchdowns on consecutive throws in the fourth quarter.
Coach John Fox said Wednesday it's "safe to assume" Clausen will start against the Browns if there are no complications. That could match Clausen against former Panthers starter Jake Delhomme.
St. Pierre and third-stringer Tony Pike were limited in practice with sore arms. Running back Jonathan Stewart practiced after missing two games with a concussion.
