Streamwood man charged in Elk Grove hit-and-run
A Streamwood man has been charged in a hit-and-run, rear-end accident in which the driver of the other vehicle was injured late Monday night at Arlington Heights and Biesterfield roads in Elk Grove Village, according to a police news release.
The accident occurred shortly before midnight. The driver of a 1996 Chevy Suburban, Alex Prochno, fled the scene of the crash and drove to a home in the 1200 block of Leeds Lane in Elk Grove Village, the release said.
Prochno, 32, is the son of Elk Grove Village Trustee Christine Prochno. He was arrested at his parents' home shortly after the crash and is charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident, driving under the influence of alcohol a Class A misdemeanor, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Elk Grove Fire Chief David Miller said the driver of the other vehicle was transported from the scene to Alexian Brothers Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the victim's name.
Prochno posted his driver's license and a $100 bond before being released. His hearing is set for Jan. 5 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
