Need CUB to watch water commission

The DuPage Water Commission is at it again; they loaned Downers Grove $4 million, and now they are having trouble getting Downers Grove to pay on the loan or get them to attend their meetings.

We have to remember the water commission forgot to put Downers Grove on the agenda. Who knows why they didn't have the sense to do that, so at the rate it is going maybe in 28 years the loan may be paid.

These are the same commissioners who told us our rates are going up to pay off the lost money they used for whatever, and now about two weeks ago they said that our rates are going up even more than they thought because they need more money.

Between the commissioners who run the DuPage Water Commission and the DuPage County Board that puts the commissioners in office their answer is to raise the rates to pay for their mistakes, and in this case it was being in the loan business.

I think the next time these commissioners and the county board visit the water commission building, they should look up and see what name is on the building, I would bet it says DuPage County Water Commission not DuPage County Water Commission and Loan Co.

My thought is to protect us the citizens who pay for our water, we should try and bring in The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) as a watchdog group, so that the commissioners cannot raise our rates whenever they feel like it.
