Scouting Naperville Central girls basketball

Naperville Central

Coach: Andy Nussbaum.

Last year: 25-7, 12-2, tied for first in the DuPage Valley Conference; lost to Benet 55-50 in Class 4A Naperville Central regional final.

Top players: Emma Ondik, sr., G; Emma Donahue, jr., C; Jill D'Amico, jr., G; Jamie Cuny, so., F; Victoria Trowbridge, so., C; Krissy Many, sr., G; Autumn Muckenhirn, so., G.

Scouting report: The two Emmas Ondik and Donahue set a good foundation for the Redhawks to build on. Ondik is a dead-eye shooter from distance, a tenacious defender and one of the best point guards in the area. Donahue, a solid 6-foot-3 with a soft touch, already has interest from schools such as Dayton, Indiana State and Drake. D'Amico saw significant playing time as a sophomore and could take some pressure off Ondik. Six-footers Cuny and Trowbridge played a little varsity and a lot of JV last year; expect to see more of them this winter. Many, committed to Wisconsin for soccer, and Muckenhirn add quickness. Nussbaum likes this group's versatility. "We can put a big team on the floor, a fast team, a team with a lot of good shooters," he said. "I've always liked a little flexibility in a lineup."
