Sponsor a tree for Lake in the Hills holiday festival

Each holiday season, the Lake in the Hills village hall, 600 Harvest Gate, is transformed into a winter wonderland.

Through the Festival of Trees event, the parks and recreation department spearheads one of the year's largest food drives to help local food pantries bring Christmas cheer to area residents.

Between now and Nov. 19, the parks and recreation department is seeking local businesses to sponsor trees for $75, and nonprofit organizations to decorate them.

The ninth annual Festival of Trees will kick off with traditional Santa Ride-In on Friday, Dec. 3.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck at 6 p.m. to perform the tree-lighting ceremony, then stay to hear the Christmas wishes of little girls and boys. To be a tree sponsor or decorator, call (847) 960-7460.
