Athenos introduces Greek Yogurt

GLENVIEW — Athenos said Tuesday it is introducing a rich and creamy, authentic Greek yogurt that is strained the authentic way and made from only milk and yogurt cultures. It offers a dual-compartment, nonfat product, yogurt in one section and fruit or honey on the side. By keeping the fruit or honey separated, it stays fresher and is easy to customize flavor to suit individual tastes.

“Adding a Greek yogurt to the Athenos family is an exciting next step for the brand,” Athenos Brand Manager Marshall Hyzdu said. “When we asked our 85,000 Facebook fans if they would like to see a Greek yogurt product from Athenos, the positive response was overwhelming.”

The yogurt is available in plain, honey, strawberry, peach and blueberry. It no fat and twice the amount of protein of regular yogurt. The fruit topping varieties have 100 calories and all of the flavor varieties pack 11 grams of protein per 5.3-oz. serving. An 8-oz. serving of Athenos Greek Yogurt provides 30 percent of the daily recommended value of calcium.

Athenos Greek Yogurt is available nationwide in select retailers and Walmart, and will be available in additional retailers in 2011.
