Pedestrian struck and killed in Wauconda

A Round Lake Park man died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Wauconda, according to police.

Pedro Gomez, 42, was walking on the road near the intersection of Route 176 and Foster Road just after 4 a.m. when he was struck by a 1991 Honda, driven by a 60-year-old Woodstock man, according to Wauconda police.

Responding police officers and rescue crews found Gomez unconscious on the roadway, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wauconda Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are continuing their investigation.
