Dump truck hits two cars in Streamwood

The driver of a dump truck that hit two vehicles in Streamwood on Thursday afternoon and sent five people to the hospital with minor injuries will be cited for running a red light, Streamwood police said.

The collisions occurred about 2:15 p.m. at Lake Street and Park Boulevard, said Bartlett Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Clarke. The dump truck was traveling west on Lake Street when it hit a Saturn that was turning north onto Park Boulevard from Lake Street, Streamwood police Sgt. Ed Valente said. The dump truck then continued west and hit a Toyota that was stopped at a red light, Valente said.

Streamwood and Bartlett fire departments transported the Saturn's two occupants and the Toyota's three occupants to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates with minor injuries, Valente said.
