Libertyville Auto Dealers Offer Incentive to Help Fill Food Pantry
It's a sign of the times. More and more individuals and their families are visiting the Libertyville Township Food Pantry because they need the help the food panty provides. During the holiday season, the Township Food Pantry has food and items going out
almost as fast as they come in. To help ease the demand in this critical time, the Libertyville Auto Dealers Association, known as The Libertyville Mile of Cars, are hosting their “Annual Holiday Food Drive” to benefit the Township Food Pantry.
Now through November 24, when you donate food in the Service Department of participating Libertyville car dealerships, the dealer will give you a discount on your service repair order. The discounts vary by dealership and your food donation will help
fill the shelves of the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.
“It truly was a win-win situation,” said Glenn Bockwinkel of Acura of Libertyville and
President of the Libertyville Mile of Cars. “Our customers received the service they need
performed on their vehicle by factory trained and certified technicians, all while helping our neighbors that can really use a helping hand.”
The recently opened addition and renovation to the Libertyville Township Food Pantry and the growing needs of the community means that help is need more than ever this year.
“About 350 households from Libertyville, Vernon Hills and Mundelein go to the food pantry each Tuesday for help,” Social Worker Linda Blatnik said.
This is the second year of the Libertyville Mile of Cars Annual Holiday Food Drive. The idea for having a food drive came from Joe Massarelli of Libertyville Auto City and John Massarelli of Libertyville Auto Plaza, whose dealerships have been hosting food drives for years. “The food drive is a tradition at our dealership,” said Joe Massarelli. “The past generosity of our customers has helped fill food banks and pantries in our
community for years.”
On Wednesday November 24, at 12:00 Noon, the participating dealerships of the Libertyville Mile of Cars will caravan to the Libertyville Township Food Pantry, located at 359 Merrill Court in Libertyville to donate food they collected during their Annual Holiday Food Drive. The, police-escorted caravan will begin at Libertyville Buick/GMC, 1120 South Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville, and proceed to the Township Food Pantry.
This season, help those who go to bed hungry every night by donating food items either through the Libertyville Mile of Cars food drive or directly to the Libertyville Township Food Pantry. The food pantry accepts donations Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 4PM. Residents in need of food can use the food pantry twice a month on Tuesdays between 10AM and 3PM. Call 1-847-816-6800 for more information.
Libertyville Mile of Cars is an organization to promote shopping locally. To help keep or
community thriving when you shop your local Libertyville auto dealer, part of your sales
tax dollars stay in the community, including supporting local parks and schools. The Holiday Food Drive is a logical extension of how local auto dealerships reach out to help our neighbors.
