State sues Schaumburg construction company

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed suit against Schaumburg-based JBK Construction today accusing the firm of “unfair and deceptive business practices.”

The suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, charged that the firm failed to perform all the required work on contracts, or performed “work in a shoddy and unworkmanlike manner.”

The suit cited two examples, accusing JBK of tearing down a fence for a condominium association and failing to rebuild a new fence, as previously agreed, and failing to complete work on a residential bathroom.

President William Keegan, owner of JBK at 704 Clover Lane, was also named as a defendant.

The action seeks $50,000 civil penalties on two specific violations of state laws.

Keegan did not return a call for comment.
