Arlington Hts. should reconsider Boeger apartments

The Disabilities Act of 1990 states that people with a disability have an equal opportunity to live and enjoy housing opportunities available to others.

As a person who lives near Arlington Heights and as someone who knows someone with a disability that lives in Arlington Heights, I was astonished to hear that the Arlington Heights officials rejected the proposal for supportive housing for people with a mental illness.

The officials are being unfair and unreasonable for not letting the North/Northwest Suburban Task Force, Daveri Development, and Thresholds build a place where the disabled can live.

This takes away the chance for the disabled to have equal opportunities for housing. It's hard enough for the disabled to live life like everyone else and now they are getting their rights taken away.

If someone I knew couldn't live in a place they wanted it would break my heart. The officials should without doubt rethink the proposal or at least give a good reason why they are rejecting the proposal.
