Honoring firefighters who died

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District is dedicating its new engine and tower ladder to a pair of firefighters who died in the line of duty in the 1970s.

During the Nov. 6 ceremony, the department will honor firefighter Edwin Leroy “Roy” Benson, who died in 1967, and Capt. G.D. “Mac” McIntyre, who died in 1976.

The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at the main station at Pyott and Algonquin roads.
