NPR lost credibility with Williams firing

Juan Williams' inelegant firing by NPR continues to engender anger from both the left and the right. The left recognizes Mr. Williams' right to freedom of speech. The right is shocked at NPR's liberal bias. Mr. Williams gave voice to a fear of many when they board a plane and see a Muslim garb because they fear that Muslims' primary allegiance is to being a Muslim.

Mr. Williams went to on to explain at length that not all Muslims are terrorists. However, the Thought Police struck quickly and savagely. The Council on American and Islamic Relations sent word to NPR that action, not just words, must be taken against Mr. Williams. NPR fired him by phone with no recourse to a face-to-face meeting to whoever had given the order. Such servile compliance, to fear of CAIR and to their liberal basis is plain for all to see.

Then the blundering was compounded by the NPR CEO saying that Mr. Williams should take the matter up with his psychiatrist. She was intimating that anyone who would say something like that was psychotic or crazy. This remark gives new meaning to the phrase “adding insult to injury.” Now NPR wants us to respect them as journalists who check all their facts carefully.
