Vernon Hills Park District sponsors Pumpkin Launch
Halloween is over, and garbage day isn't until the end of the week. So, what should you do with your old pumpkins?
Save them for Vernon Hills Park District's Pumpkin Launch at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.
Bring your gourds to the north end of the Century Park Sled Hill on Indianwood Drive where you can roll, launch and smash your old pumpkins. Students from the Vernon Hills High School science department built a trebuchet for the park district so residents can launch their jack-o'-lanterns down the hill.
There will even be prizes for adults and kids.
Bring one pumpkin per participant. The fee is $2 per person, and it's free for children 3 and younger.
