Schaumburg police warn of possible candy tampering
The Schaumburg Police Department received two reports of Halloween candy that had possibly been tampered with, police said Sunday night.
Police said both reports indicated that children trick-or-treating in Schaumburg were given candy with a “foreign object” that had been inserted into it.
There were no reported injuries resulting from the incidents, according to police.
The Schaumburg Police Department is reminding parents to closely inspect any trick-or-treat candy before allowing their children to eat it. Any opened candy or candy with damaged packaging should not be eaten, police said.
Police are asking any Schaumburg residents who discover tampered and suspicious candy to contact the police department at (847) 882-3534.
