Man killed by train in Wood Dale
A 23-year-old Wood Dale man was struck and killed by a freight train early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The man was hit by a Canadian Pacific freight train at 12:43 a.m. near the intersection of Ash Avenue and Irving Park Road, said officials with the DuPage County Coroner's office.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. A Metra Milwaukee District West Line train was delayed for 70 minutes while crews were on the scene, according to the Metra website.
Preliminary investigations indicate the death was a suicide, according to the coroner's office.
