Speedway promotes Kohrs to operations role
Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway officials have promoted Ken Kohrs to vice president of Operations.
Kohrs, who has 30 years of experience in motorsports management, formerly held the roles of Senior Manager of Safety and Risk as well as Senior Director of Facilities and Operations for both facilities. He first joined the company when Route 66 Raceway opened in 1998.
In his new role, Kohrs will oversee all aspects of facility and operations management. On an interim basis, he will report to International Speedway Corporation President John Saunders as the previously announced executive search for a president of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway continues.
“We're thrilled to have an executive of Ken's caliber in place as Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway's team begins to prepare for a very exciting season in 2011,” said Saunders. “Ken has a tremendous amount of experience in motorsports and the facilities there will benefit from his knowledge on promoting events throughout the season.”
“This is a great time to be a part of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway,” said Kohrs. “I'm thankful for this opportunity and look forward to working with the team on developing and implementing strategies that will help provide our fans with enjoyable experiences at our facility throughout the season.”
