Families budget, so should government

The recurring mantra from the Obama administration and the Congressional Democrats is how they inherited our nation's economic troubles. I agree that spending was out of control under the Bush Administration, an unfortunate trend that has continued even more so under the Obama administration and its allies in the Democrat-controlled Congress, as it has been revealed that for the second consecutive year the federal deficit exceeds $1.3 Trillion.

The facts tell the truth: this administration and the Democratic majorities in both the House and the Senate are on pace to triple the national debt over the next 10 years. That is according to the president's own budget office. Since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006, government spending has increased by 84 percent. According to a new report from the World Economic Forum, the U.S. has dropped to 87th out of 139 countries for economic stability.

Democrats have been in charge for years, and our economy is suffering for it. Whatever situation the Democrats “inherited,” all the data show they have made it worse. Much worse. I'm glad Congressman Peter Roskam is in Congress to say no to out-of-control spending. He knows that my family and I live on a budget, and we expect our government to do the same.
