Where character really counts
It seems more challenging than ever to find people running for office who exhibit integrity, intelligence and a sincere desire to be servants of the people to simply serve their constituency for a period of time. I recently attended a gathering of about a dozen community residents at a neighbor's home to meet, listen to and ask questions of a candidate for U.S. representative for the 6th District.
His name is Ben Lowe. I was favorably impressed. If you are looking for someone who: isn't taking campaign contributions from PACs, corporations, unions and wealthy people; looking for favors in return for their large donations; is beholden to no one but his constituency; expresses himself intelligently on the pertinent issues; is thoughtful and respectful; understands the importance of building relationships “across the aisle” so that government can function properly and progressively; who won't make his service in government a career and believes in serving no more than three 2-year terms; who has a degree in environmental science and understands the potential of alternative energy sources for a number of sound reasons, e.g., energy independence, water and air purity for human health, new jobs, economic growth, stewardship of the land; then you should go to Mr. Lowe's website to find out more about his views.
I live in a town whose schools have had a “Character Counts” program. Citizens need candidates to whom character really counts. I believe in exercising my right to vote; but where honest, upright character is missing, it becomes very difficult to exercise this right. For this election I have found someone of integrity for whom to vote.
