Is anyone in charge of the country?
Who's watching the store? First of all, let's inventory the store. The store (our country) is in a mess. Unemployment is out of control. The wars are not going well. Iran and North Korea pose serious threats. People are losing their homes as we speak. Corruption is rampant. The national debt is horrendous and rising.
The store manager is a guy named Obama. Is he tending the store? No. Where is he then? Why, he's busy at taxpayers' expense chasing all over the country making political campaign speechs for his cronies in Congress. His clerks are out campaigning for themselves. Something I read many years ago comes to mind, “Nero fiddled while Rome burned.”
Who's picking up the tab for his travels? He will tell you the DNC is footing the bill. At best it's a token payment. If United could fly a 747 for what the DNC is billed it would be the biggest moneymaking airline in the world.
Now for another subject, inflation. The brain (?) trust in Washington tells us there is no inflation this year. As a result there is no cost-of-living increase in Social Security, yet politicos, public officials, public employees, etc., get salary increases. Come on politicos, let's get our heads out of the sand. Instead of sending your maids to the grocery store, try making a trip yourself and see the real world.
Food prices are skyrocketing. Clothing prices are up. Taxes are rising. Health insurance premiums are out of control, not to mention prescription drug costs. The only thing reasonably stable are new car prices, but then how often does the average taxpayer buy a new car?
Yes, indeed, Nero is fiddling while the politicos are eating prime steaks cooked over Rome's ashes. Oh well, it's all Bush's fault anyway.
