Lake County District 18: Lawlor

Budget cuts, property tax relief and road improvements are key issues for Lake County Board District 18 candidates Republican incumbent Aaron Lawlor of Vernon Hills and Democrat newcomer Kay Hoogland of Long Grove.

The Daily Herald endorses Lawlor for his success in office and continued commitment to work hard for taxpayers.

He voted to freeze salaries for county officials and employees and to cut $6 million from the county budget.

He's mindful of cutting expenses and future spending. Hoogland's strong private sector business and legal experience give her the tools to tackle these issues.

She would like the board to be more active in prioritizing spending.
