W. Dundee woman charged with drugstore robbery

A 22-year-old West Dundee woman has been charged with robbery after demanding prescription drugs from a Walgreen's pharmacist, police said.

Tara Donmez, 22, of the 400 block of Cavalier Court, is free on $50,000 bond after being charged with attempted aggravated robbery Saturday, said Sgt. Ted J. Ziarkowski of the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

Donmez walked into the Walgreens at 100 N. Randall Road shortly after 8 p.m. and handed the pharmacist a note, Ziarkowski said.

The note demanded specific doses of Oxycodone and Percocet, and also implied that Donmez was armed with a weapon, Ziarkowski said.

While the first pharmacist was gathering up the drugs, a second pharmacist at the Walgreens dialed police, Ziarkowski said.

Two officers entered the store and arrested the woman without incident, Ziarkowski said.

“She was not armed when police arrested her at the store,” Ziarkowski said. “The pharmacists and our officers did a great job of handling the situation.”

If convicted of attempted aggravated robbery, Donmez could face up to 15 years behind bars. She posted the required 10 percent of her $50,000 bail Monday.
