Bears release Grant, promote Turner
The Bears promoted defensive end Barry Turner to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday after releasing nine-year veteran defensive end Charles Grant.
The 6-foot-3, 259-pound Turner joined the Bears this season as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska. In his four-year career with the Cornhuskers (2005-09), Turner had 115 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries
After Mark Anderson was released Oct. 5, he was replaced on the roster by Grant, who never played a single snap and was inactive for both games that he was on the roster. Anderson remains second on the Bears with 6 quarterback pressures, even though he played in just four games. He was signed by the Houston Texans on Oct. 6.
