The play takes place on the seventh anniversary of the attack, and examines the recuperative process for both the citizens of Lockerbie and the families of the victims. A husband and wife who have lost their only son travel to Lockerbie for the dedication of a memorial in hopes to heal their wounds. While there, they encounter the women of Lockerbie who petition the American government for the release of 11,000 articles of clothing found at the wreckage so they can wash them and send them back to the families of the victims, what has been called the “Laundry Programme.
Cast members include seniors Arianna Myles, Juniors Grace Petit, Caitlyn Featherstone-Priester, Tyler Zanona, Amanda Grossmayer, Mariel Fechik, Erin Saflarski, and sophomores Rachel Campbell and Nicky Mendelsohn.
According to Director Kyle Marquette, the play focuses on loss and the power of love to conquer hate. In an era of the fear of terror, “The Women of Lockerbie is as much about our world today as it is about Lockerbie.
