Congress, 13th District: Biggert

The 13th Congressional District has a repeat race from 2008 incumbent Republican Judy Biggert is being challenged by Democrat Scott Harper. Harper, of Naperville, made a strong showing two years ago in the district that spans southern DuPage and parts of Will and Cook counties and he's likely to do so again. He's well-versed on the issues, and he has spent considerable time getting to know the district. But Biggert, a moderate Republican in Congress for 12 years, is a model of independence and bipartisanship and is endorsed. Just this year she was one of only five Republicans to vote to repeal the military's ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy. She readily acknowledges that Republicans made mistakes when they were in charge while also strongly criticizing current House leadership for not working across the aisle. We think the Hinsdale resident is on target and deserves to take that message back to Congress.
