MCC teacher to talk about peacemakers' efforts in Middle East

The Student Peace Action Network at McHenry County College will host MCC instructor Todd Culp, Ph.D., who will present “Friends Whose Names I'll Never Know at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the MCC Conference Center, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

Culp will discuss his newly published book, “Friends Whose Names I'll Never Know, which features stories of his trips to the Middle East since 1993. He will share stories of those who risk and sometimes lose their lives to bring peace to the Middle East. Culp, who teaches history and political science at MCC, had a front-row seat to one of the most brutal conflicts of our time. He brings his real-life examples to the classroom and in his book.

“It has been my privilege for the last 17 years as I walked the streets of the West Bank and Gaza to witness acts of courage, selflessness, and beauty amid the brutality that is the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, Culp said.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the MCC the Student Peace Action Network, students promoting peace nationally and locally through action and education.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the MCC Student Life Office at (815) 455-8772.
