Woodstock man charged with sexual assault of 15-year-old

A 20-year-old Woodstock man faces sexual assault charges alleging he assaulted a 15-year-old at a party in July, officials said.

Spencer C. Gordon, who was 19 at the time, remains in McHenry County Jail after being charged with felony sexual assault and misdemeanor sexual abuse, Woodstock Police Chief Bob Lowen said.

Gordon remains in jail in lieu of $75,000 bond, Lowen said.

Lowen said the 15-year-old victim was with a friend and attending a party at Gordon's Woodstock home when Gordon began making advances toward her. The girl's 15-year-old friend stepped in and prevented anything from taking place, Lowen said, but later at the party Gordon and the girl got back together where the sexual assault took place, Lowen said.

“Both the victim, her friend, and Mr. Gordon were drinking at the party, Lowen said.

Lowen said the girl called police after returning home after the party.

“The victim told police she tried to fight off the attack by Gordon, but couldn't, he said.

Gordon was arrested at his home Wednesday afternoon, Lowen said. He is due back in court on Oct. 18.
