Merchants in Mount Prospect sponsor Fall Festival, Oktoberfest

The Mount Prospect Downtown Merchants Association will hold the village's 6th Annual Fall Festival and Octoberfest Celebration from 1-10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The festivities will take place in downtown Mount Prospect at Emerson Street and Busse Avenue.

The Fall Festival will kick off at 1 p.m. and run until 4 p.m., featuring activities including hay rides, pony rides, two moon bounces, pumpkin decorating, crafts and balloons. There also will be the never-ending trick or treat candy line, which is made up of 30 local businesses, tattoos and a stilt walker. All activities are free and sponsored by the merchants association.

Kids can snack on fall classics such as taffy apples and German pretzels or enjoy a full array of German food.

Immediately following the Fall Festival is Oktoberfest. It features authentic German food, beer and music by Phenix under a heated tent. A contest to pick the best German attire will be part of the fun. The two-event festival will be gemutlichkeit (good times) for all!
