Show that Winfield isn't a dying town
My wife and I moved into the village of Winfield two years ago. We liked the idea of low taxes and moderately priced homes within DuPage County. Looking back, I wish I had done more research.
As outsiders in this small town, we have quickly come to realize that there is a reason this small town is, unfortunately, dying at a rapid pace. Home values continue to decline, and any form of business development within the downtown area has been nonexistent. Outside of Central DuPage Hospital, the village is a literal ghost town for business. Aging strip malls with minimal occupancy don't exactly paint a picture of a thriving community.
This is why it's so important for the village of Winfield to pass Propositions 1 and 2. Any form of investment to the infrastructure of Winfield would help draw attention to new residents; and most importantly, new businesses. Why would any business or individual be attracted to a village with crumbling roads and zero downtown appeal? Something needs to be done, and the resurfacing of roads proves to be the most logical step in rebuilding the image of Winfield.
I understand people are extremely upset over the alleged “misuse of funds or the “broken promises of local elected officials, but there is nothing we can do about that now. You can elect new officials the next time around, but the reality of our current situation is real and unavoidable. We, as a community, have the ability to start rebuilding our image, and show that Winfield is not a dying community.
