Biggest win yet for 'lucky' Schaumburg store

Santoss Sing and his staff at the 7-Eleven at 1225 N. Roselle Road in Schaumburg have been selling Illinois Lottery tickets to locals for years. Almost every year they sell tickets which win hundreds and even thousands of dollars, said Sing, who has owned the location for six years.

On Monday they hit the jackpot, selling the $5.75 million winning Lotto ticket.

For selling the winning ticket, Sing's location will receive $57,500. He said the corporate office will take half of that, and he'll use the rest to help pay his store's bills.

Sing said lottery ticket sales have been increasing over the years at his location.

“People are excited when they know it's a lucky store, he said.

The ticket was sold by 25-year-old clerk Sonny Lamba of Bloomingdale, who recalls selling more lottery tickets than normal on Monday. Lamba attributed the increased sales to the amount of the jackpot for the Lotto and Powerball.

Although a winner has yet to come forward, Lamba said, “I don't know who won it, but good for them. Hopefully they spend it wisely.
