“Discover” signs deal with First National Bank Alaska

RIVERWOODS Discover Financial Services said today that it has signed a merchant acquirer agreement with First National Bank Alaska. This agreement enables First National Bank Alaska to provide acceptance of Discover cards to its entire merchant portfolio in a simple, integrated package that gives merchants a convenient method to accept Discover.

The agreement with First National Bank Alaska also marks a significant milestone for Discover, representing the completion of a multiyear effort to secure agreements and implement merchant acquiring programs with all of the top 100 merchant acquirers in the United States. As a result, Discover is now accepted at millions more merchant locations than ever before, thereby, providing Discover cardmembers with the ability to use their cards all across the country.

“Discover's ability to provide a complete solution to the acquiring community has driven dramatic growth in merchant acceptance for the company, and is highlighted by the agreements we have in place with the country's top 100 merchant acquirers, Gerry Wagner, vice president of global acceptance at Discover, said in a statement. “Cardmembers will benefit from the ability to use their cards wherever they shop, anywhere in the country, allowing them even more opportunities to reap the great benefits offered by our issuing partners.

“We are pleased to offer our merchants an expanded merchant program to include Discover, Christine Newsome, vice president at First National Bank Alaska, said in a statement. “With this program in place, we can offer our merchants a comprehensive solution that allows them to maximize their business growth opportunities.
