Scouting Wheeling at Prospect

Wheeling (1-5, 0-2) at Prospect (5-1, 2-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at George Gattas Stadium

Last week: Wheeling lost to Elk Grove 35-14; Prospect d. Rolling Meadows 40-7

Outlook: Prospect coach Brent Pearlman doesn't see a team that matches its record in Wheeling. "It's a strange 1-5 team," Pearlman said. "They drive up and down the field on offense. They're a talented team but they just didn't get a break here or they got a bad bounce there." Wheeling did pick off 4 passes last week (Chris Johnson, Brandon Yacu, Leo Giordiano and Luke Smith) but the concern this week is Prospect's dangerous running game with QB Steve Dazzo and RBs Peter Bonahoom and Grant DePalma. Prospect also had four picks (Bonahoom, Patrick Inserra, Ryan Ward and Joe Randazzo) while Dan Panicko and crew will try to contain QB Tyler Brady, RB Eddie Scanlon and WR Kyle Batiz. "Both sides of the ball have a long way to go," Pearlman said. "But we're definitely getting a little closer each week." Prospect has won nine of 10 in a series it leads 14-13-1.
