Roselle police seek robbery suspect

Roselle police are seeking a man suspected of robbing an auto-parts store on the 1000 block of west Lake Street.

Police said the suspect arrived as the store was closing, knocked on the locked door and told the clerk he needed to buy a last-minute part around 8 p.m. Monday. He then ran behind the register and took an unknown amount of cash and pushed the clerk, authorities said.

The man was last seen fleeing west through the parking lot.

The clerk was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village due to injuries he sustained from being pushed, according to police reports.

Police said the suspect is a black male with a heavy Jamaican accent, between the ages of 20 and 25, with a thin build and standing about 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt and brown pants, police said.

Anyone with information should call Sgt. John Lawson at (630) 671-4044 or e-mail crimetips@roselle.il.us.
