No threat found in Roselle explosives evacuation

Roselle police evacuated the building of RIM Logistics at 200 Gary Ave. for about three hours Tuesday afternoon to investigate the possible presence of explosives.

The building next door was also evacuated, because the two structures are connected. Police officials said all packages at the company, which handles international shipping for the Transportation Security Administration, are scanned with sensitive machinery for explosives and narcotics. One package was found with traces of explosives on its exterior.

After the building was evacuated, the DuPage County Bomb Squad investigated the outside of the package and contents. But Roselle police said the squad discovered no explosives inside and concluded the exterior of the package came in contact with legal explosives at some point during shipping.

No one was injured and employees returned to work around 4:30 p.m.
