Liz Dietz joins District 96 in place of Victoria Juster

The Kildeer-Countryside Elementary District 96 school board has appointed Elizabeth Dietz to finish the term of board member Victoria Juster, who stepped down last month for personal reasons.

Dietz, a former educator and consultant at an educational publishing firm, was chosen over 10 other candidates for the unpaid position on the seven-member board.

Dietz said she plans to run to retain the seat in next April’s election.

“I’m really excited being able to work with a very talented and dedicated board, Dietz said. “(Our goal) is to further the potential of every child in the district.

Board members interviewed all 11 candidates last week. District residents were invited to apply following Juster’s resignation after 11 years on the board.

Board president Marc Tepper said Dietz stood out for her districtwide focus on all seven kindergarten, elementary and middle schools.

“She has a good global understanding of what the district is all about. She knows what’s best for the community, Tepper said.

Last year, Dietz was part of the district’s superintendent interview team, and previously served on its search conference steering and standards-based reporting committees.

Dietz is in upper management at Glenview-based publisher Scott Foresman, and is currently a small business entrepreneur who manages area properties.

She’s also the parent of two children at Country Meadows Elementary School in Long Grove one reason why she decided to apply for the vacant school board position.

“I believe in being as involved as possible in your children’s education, Dietz said.

She called District 96 a premier district, “head and shoulders above many others.

“We want to stay at that level and enhance that level, Dietz said.
