Red Wings assign Janik, MacDonald to Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Detroit Red Wings have assigned defenseman Doug Janik and goalie Joey MacDonald to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Janik, 30, split time between the Griffins and Red Wings last season. He led Grand Rapids defensemen with 31 assists and 37 points in 66 games. He had two assists in 13 games with the Red Wings.
MacDonald, also 30, returns to the Griffins after playing 164 games there from 2002-07. His 16 shutouts rank first on Grand Rapids' all-time list.
