Wheeling's Homecoming titled, "When in Paris"
Wheeling High School's Student Council has planned a fun-filled week of Homecoming activities, based on the theme, "When in Rome," Oct. 12-16.
The excitement begins on Friday, Oct. 8, with club door decorating, which must be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 12, for judging at 7 a.m. Following
the Columbus Day holiday on Monday, some of the week's highlights are the competition of classes for spirit points, on Tuesday, Oct. 12; Wednesday's
Gladiator Day; Thursday's Toga Day; and Friday's Extreme Blue & Gold Day.
Lunchtime activities will be Saran-Wrap Bump Out on Tuesday; Karaoke on Wednesday; and a Pie-Eating Contest on Thursday. Student Council has
also planned Penny Wars, where each class will compete for spirit points and the proceeds will go to the Make-A- Wish Foundation. Students may
nominate teachers to take a pie in the face by dropping money in Pie-in–the Face Jars and voting for their favorites.
The long-awaited coronation assembly will take place on Friday at 8:55 a.m. when "Emperor Kuponious" will crown this year's Homecoming King and Queen. At the end of the day there will be a Pep Rally, rocking the house with school spirit to spur on the team to victory. The winner of the class Spirit Stick will be revealed and the teacher with the highest number of votes will take a pie in the face.
The football game vs. Buffalo Grove High School will take place at 7:30 p.m., following a pregame presentation of the Homecoming Court and
their parents.
Homecoming will come to a close on Saturday, Oct. 16, following the dance from 8-11 p.m.
