Round Lake goes on a roll at R-B tournament

Round Lake's boys soccer team dominated the Richmond-Burton tournament.

The Panthers won all three of their games, outscoring the opposition 19-0 over two days to improve to 13-1-4 on the season.

Round Lake won a pair of games Saturday, knocking off Richmond-Burton 7-0 and blanking Belvidere 9-0.

Andres Gomez, Jordi Rubio, Mauricio Salgado, Armando Alvarez, Edgar Rodriguez, Luis Leon (penalty kick) and Jorge Vaszquez scored against Richmond-Burton.

Rubio had his second hat trick in as many days against Belvidere. Rodriguez had a pair of goals, while the other goal scorers were Eduardo Pulido, Jose Sedano, Osvaldo Eios and Jose Rangel. Jose Garcia had 3 assists, and Lorenzo Cortez set up a pair of goals.

Leon, Round Lake's keeper, made 2 saves in each match.

Carmel 4, Joliet Catholic 1: Jimmy Ryan scored twice and had an assist in the East Suburban Catholic Conference match for the Corsairs.

Carmel also got goals from Aaron Ogunro and Max Heinrich.

Warren 2, Muskego (Wis.) 1: Billy Eddy and Leon Mardehow scored for the Blue Devils, who improved to 4-0-1 in their last five.

Keeper Brady Walsh made 5 saves for Warren (10-5-3).

Antioch 1, Zion-Benton 0: Juan Perez scored the only goal, and Alex Grimm recorded the shutout with 13 saves, as the Sequoits hiked their record to 14-2-2.

Vernon Hills 2, Elmwood Park 0: Evan Borden scored goals in the second half, assisted by Shawn Aumiller and Matt Tomback, as the Cougars improved to 4-11-1.

Andy Clark earned the shutout behind a strong defensive effort from Nathan Lightman, Paul Woo, Aaron Melcer and Jeremy Cohen.
