Pumpkin fundraiser:"Pumpkins for a Cure" pumpkin sale, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday at Miscella Real Estate, 202 W. Campbell St., Geneva. There will be a bike raffle, bake sale, crafts, storytelling, face-painting, a mum sale and more. Featured will be antiques, collectibles, jewelry, crafts, bakery goods, homemade candy, artwork, books, plants, 'This 'n' That', plus many other miscellaneous items. Besides seeing the fire station, equipment and firefighters, NICOR will have gas safety information, and the Kane County Emergency Management Agency will bring its command van.Kaneland meeting:The Kaneland school board meets at 6 p.m. Monday to interview 10 candidates to fill a vacancy on the board. The closed-door meeting is at the district office at Kaneland High School, Meredith and Keslinger roads. District officials have declined to release the names of the people who applied to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Bob Myers. The new trustee will be appointed Oct. 12.Arts award for Geneva:The Arts Alliance Illinois and Illinois Municipal League have selected the City of Geneva for Honorable Mention in the "Illinois Arts Friendly Community Awards" in recognition of the city's achievements in the arts. In its application the city cited the programs offered, from the Arts Fair and "Shakespeare in the Park" to the concerts at RiverPark and "Dancing With the Geneva Stars."
