Prospect Marching Knights win, win ... and win
The Prospect High School Marching Knights placed first in two competitions on Sept. 25. PMK earned the highest overall score in winning the Chicagoland Marching Band Festival at Wheeling High School, and also claimed first place at the Red & Black Fall Classic in DeKalb.
Seventeen bands competed at the Chicagoland Festival (nine in Class AAA, including the Prospect Marching Knights) where Prospect also received awards for best Percussion, Auxiliary, General Effect and Music.
Thirty-one bands performed at NIU Huskie Stadium in DeKalb (nine in Class AAA including the Knights) where Prospect also received awards for best Percussion and Overall Effect.
Marching Knights Director Chris Barnum said, "It was a great day overall for the students in the band. We put on two solid performances and were able to perform for two appreciative audiences. We're looking forward to continuing working on our 2010 production."
The Marching Knights also captured first at the Lake Park Lancer Joust on Sept. 11.
Next up for the Marching Knights is an exhibition performance at Prospect's own Knight of Champions on Saturday, Oct. 2. The band then heads for the Illini Marching Festival in Urbana-Champaign on Oct. 16, followed by the state of Illinois Invitational High School Marching Band Championship in Bloomington, IL on Oct. 23.
The season culminates with a trip to Atlanta, GA for the Bands of America Super Regional on Oct. 30.
