Some more traffic courtesy tips
A very informative suggestion by the Daily Herald advising that in low traffic conditions at red light delays, move over to the left lane there by allowing right-turning vehicles to stop and proceed with minimum delay.
A good practice that I employ at two intersections that I see almost daily. While this driving habit promotes a courtesy to your fellow drivers, more often than not a blank stare is given where a gentle hand wave or head nod would say, "Hey, thank you," and on your way you go feeling good for a minute or so.
And while we are at Driver Training Class, put on your turn signal a good distance before making a turn, not when the light turns green or just as you start your turn.
When making a left turn at a four-way light with heavy traffic, pull into the intersection so as the light changes, you and the car behind you can complete the turn. Sitting back at the light and turning only as it turns red allows you and only you to complete the turn. The person behind you admiring your driving has to wait for the next light.
Also, pay attention to the roadway and cars ahead of you, as a collision at 35 mph car be as deadly as a smashup at 65 mph.
Remember, one car length for each 10 mph when following other cars in traffic, and don't let it bother you as Mr. Me First jumps in and out of moving traffic. The body shop people will see these folks soon enough. It's their reward for getting bent.
