Infant Welfare Society's day a hit

A picture-perfect early fall day greeted members and guests at the Wheaton Infant Welfare Society's recent charity event. The 12th annual Playing "Fore" the Kids; a nine-hole golf outing and luncheon took place Sept. 9 at Prairie Landing Golf Course in West Chicago.

The sold out benefit was attended by the president of the auxiliary, Rosanne Merrill, and Kate Boege, president of the Infant Welfare Society board of directors. We are most grateful to our sponsors for their generous donations. Event Sponsors include: Chapman and Cutler, LLP and the Edward and Lois Brennan Family Foundation. Table Sponsors: Jay and Dot Buikema; Kathy McKenna, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage; Minuteman Press of Warrenville; Wheaton Bank & Trust. Hole Sponsors: Cornerstone Medical Group; Danada Square Dental; Mark and Celine Lillie; Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital; Mark-It Company; Kathy McKenna, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage; the Gates/Loth Team, RE/MAX Suburban; Stones Jewelry and Toms Price Furniture.

All proceeds from the golf outing benefit the Infant Welfare Society and its mission to provide comprehensive medical care for underserved and underprivileged children and their mothers. Beginning in 1911, the almost 100 year-old Infant Welfare Society was established to combat infant mortality. Milk dispensing stations were set up in low-income areas of Chicago and services were later added for mothers and children. The Wheaton Chapter was established in 1957.
