Cause of Streamwood house fire under investigation

The cause of a fire that did extensive damage to a Streamwood home Sunday remains under investigation, authorities said.

Officials said the Streamwood Fire Department was first called to deck fire on the 100 block of Seton Place at 11:48 p.m. Sunday evening.

But when they got there, firefighters saw a large deck attached to the rear of the house on fire and that the fire had extended into the rear wall and attic of the house.

No one was injured, officials said, and everyone safely evacuated the building even before firefighters arrived.

The fire caused significant damage to the deck and the exterior of the building, authorities said.

Streamwood firefighters were assisted by crews from Bartlett, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, South Elgin and Rutland Dundee.
