Olsen to critics: All that matters is results on field
Tight end Greg Olsen says it's fine with him if skeptics haven't given the Bears the credit they deserve for a 2-0 start.
"It's fine," he said. "If we just continue to go out and play well and win games, everything will take care of itself, and that's been our philosophy from the beginning of the year. Articles written and things said don't really have any (bearing on the) outcome. Wins and losses at the end of the year determine who makes the playoffs. The field is where it really counts, and all that other stuff doesn't really have any impact on the game."
The Bears have started 2-0 in just two of the previous 18 seasons. Since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970, the Bears have started 3-0 nine times and made the playoffs in seven of those seasons.
It's been awhile: The last time the Bears and the Packers met in Week 3 or later with both teams undefeated was on Sept. 30, 1962 at Lambeau Field. The Packers won that game 49-0 and later in the season throttled the Bears 38-7 en route to the NFL championship. The Bears were NFL champions the following year and defeated the Packers 10-3 in the season opener and 26-7 nine weeks later.
Does he floss? The mystery as to why Fox-TV sideline "reporter" Pam Oliver complimented Jay Cutler on his teeth after last Sunday's game remains a mystery.
"I don't know," Cutler said. "They caught me off guard. I have no idea where that came from. I've never had a conversation with Pam about teeth or dentists or anything else."
Injury update: Lance Briggs (ankle) returned to practice and was limited, but he will play Monday night. Chris Williams (hamstring) and Major Wright (hamstring) did not practice and won't play Monday.
Israel Idonije (foot) and Brian Iwuh (quadriceps) were also limited in Friday's practice but are expected to play. Nick Roach (hamstring) fully participated.
Packers offensive left tackle Chad Clifton (knee) was a full participant in Friday's practice.
